Q: Is this search required by the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRIA)? A: No. PRIA does not require this search; however, an air carrier or operator can request pilot records that include an airman’s record history concerning accidents/incidents and enforcement actions (notwithstanding those records that have been expunged by the FAA) and are available through a Privacy Act or a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request as they may find this additional information helpful in evaluating the pilot/applicant.
