Employment Verification

Turnaround Time: 6 – 72 hours

Our employment verification professionals will verify previous employment supplied by your applicant, including dates of employment and position(s) held. Per the employer’s policy, reason for leaving, rehire status, starting and ending pay rates, performance, reason for departure, rehire status, and any other general comments may be available. Pricing for employment verifications is per employer verified.

Info Cubic can develop the scope appropriate for your organization and industry and customize packages with the breadth of scope appropriate for the positions for which you are hiring, including number of employers or years.

Did you know

Studies have shown that around 36% of job applicants have lied or exaggerated something on their resumes. Candidates can even buy their way into a fake organization to be able to put that experience on a resume and have it verified by individuals pretending to work for the fake company. These staggering realities are just a couple of the reasons why it is so important to have someone with competence and expertise completing your employment verifications. Contact Info Cubic today to learn how we can put our experience to work for you.

Results Guidelines

Employment verification results include only that information which is able to be released by the former employer according to its company policy. This may limit the information received to only dates of employment and position, but may extend into information related to salary, variable compensation or bonuses, and sometimes performance related information. Info Cubic will provide all information received from the source to our clients. Some states now limit the collection and use of salary information prior to an offer of employment being made. We recommend consultation with a qualified legal counsel for all employment law matters.

FAQ

Q: I was hired via contract or temp agency. Who should I list as my employer?
A: Info Cubic will need to verify your employment through the company for which you genuinely worked. Your employment records will be held by whichever company was actually issuing your paychecks.

Q: Why might results return as "Review"?
A: Info Cubic will compare what was entered into our system and what the source supplies us directly. If a position, dates of employment, and/or other information varies from what was originally provided, it will be marked as review.

Q: The company I worked for is no longer in business. Can you still verify employment?
A: If the company was purchased, it is likely that the new owners will hold employment records for the former company. If the company is no longer in existence in any form, we may not be able to verify, but Info Cubic will exhaust all options before closing the request.

Q: Can you use my paystub or W2 information to verify?
A: Info Cubic cannot accept documentation to verify employment, as such documentation is difficult to validate.

Q: What is TWN, and why is there a fee?
A: TWN is short for The Work Number. This is a 3rd party verification service that employers choose to work with to store and verify employment record information. Many employers have turned to this system for record holding as opposed to requiring employment verifications to go through their Human Resources office. There is a pass-through fee required for this service which will be passed through on the invoice from Info Cubic. If an
employer contracts with The Work Number, this will be the only available method for verification.

The Cube Feature

Many candidates wish to hold off on verifying their present employer until after an offer has been accepted. The Cube will require a “yes” or “no” answer to whether an applicant has provided authorization to contact any current or former employer. Any employment where authorization to contact is not expressly provided will automatically cancel itself. This leaves no room for human error in contacting an employer that should be not contacted. Historically, most Consumer Reporting Agencies like Info Cubic have been very careful about not contacting current employers without applicant permission, for obvious reasons. Because some past employers may be related to or have been acquired by current employers, we ask the question on each employment report. This provides an additional step of assurance that a current employer will not be contacted if not authorized.

All fields on the Employment Verification screen can be made required or not required, re-ordered, re-labeled, or removed entirely. By defaul, we will ask for and require the pieces of information commonly required to complete the search, but we are open to discussing customizations with clients to meet their needs.

Custom client instructions can be added to Employment Verifications at the account or even package level. This allows customers the flexibility to provide specific direction to applicants as it relates to their requirements. All requested instructions will go through an internal approval process at Info Cubic before being added to a client account.
